“Virtual Star Guitar method turns beginner guitar students who have never played before into virtual band members while they learn to play guitar!”

I couldn’t believe it…
I was actually standing on that stage staring out across a sea of fans cheering loudly as my last chord slowly faded out. My dream had actually come true.
But, let me start from the beginning…
It all started with a phone call.
A friend of mine had called to say he would have to cancel the plans we had made for the evening. Something about band rehearsal. I was disappointed, but he said, “Why don’t you stop by and listen?”
Not having anything better to do, I agreed and hoped to myself that it wouldn’t last too long. How exciting could band rehearsal be afterall?
Jack in the Guitar?
Now I had dabbled with guitar over the years and could clearly remember my first guitar – a plastic wind up one that “played” when you wound the little handle, kind of like a Jack in the Box except no clown popped out.
I also had a small acoustic guitar that I got for Christmas one year, but I didn’t really play.
Round and Round…
It wasn’t that I didn’t try to learn. In fact I had tried several times. I would get excited about playing, read some lame book, get frustrated, and quit.
I did this over and over. It was a never ending cycle that I just assumed never would.
Power Play!
Back at the rehearsal studio I sat quiently on the couch, skeptical of what I was about to hear. Only the rock and roll stars that played on the radio were good enough to play in a band. Right?
I could not have been more wrong. What I witnessed that night changed my life…
As soon as the drummer clicked his sticks together “one…two…three…four…” the rest of the band joined in and it actually sounded like a real live band you would hear on the radio!
I remember being hypnotized by the guitar – the beauty, the power, the guitar solo… I knew that this was something that I just had to be a part of one day.
“Making the Band”
After that evening watching my friend’s band rehearsal I made a decision to learn to play the guitar well enough to play in a band.
A few months later I played backing guitar in the high school talent show and less than one year after watching the rehearsal in that little make shift studio, I was playing in a band with those same guys!
This is a flyer from my first live show:

Imagine this…
You walk slowly out onto that stage. Your favorite guitar hangs from your shoulders.
You can feel the heat from the floodlights on your face as you walk over to your giant gigawatt amplifier and plug your guitar cord in with a snap. The crowd can hear the ominous hum.
The drummer makes eye contact with you one last time to make sure you are ready.
“One, two, three, four!”
The wall of sound explodes from your guitar and you can’t help but smile as your fans cheer you on.
“Learn how to unleash your awesome Star Guitar potential”
Now imagine this…
You are sitting around the pool at the annual neighborhood backyard summer barbeque enjoying the summer afternoon.
As everyone kicks back with some good food and a cold drink, the host walks out with an old acoustic guitar he found laying around the house.
“Does anyone know how to play this thing?” he asks.
You wait politely to see if anyone else speaks up. No one does.
“I play a little,” you say.
The host walks over and offers you the guitar which you quickly tune. A pretty young lady offers to hold your drink.
You tap your foot a couple of times and start strumming the latest pop song off of the radio.
The guests go crazy with applause and you suddenly notice the pretty young lady holding your drink is smiling and making eyes at you.
Maybe she would like to come hear your band play one evening…
This is from a Songwriter Showcase I did in Austin, Texas:

Over the past 25 years I have been fortunate enough to play in several small bands and have written and recorded many original songs.
One day I decided to gather up all of the guitar playing tips, tools, and methods that I had studied and learned over the years and offer them as a complete package to other students eager to learn to play guitar.
I have had enough real life experience playing in bands and doing home recordings that I know what works and what doesn’t work when learning to play the guitar. That is why I founded MyGuitarUniversity.com.
But there was a problem…
The lessons I studied in all of those books and videos were too boring.
It just isn’t that exciting to sit around playing tedious scale exercises over and over by yourself in your bedroom. I know because I actually did that for years.
I wanted to play so badly, but it was sometimes brutally boring. That is one of the top reasons students give me as to why they quit trying to learn to play guitar or never really started to learn in the first place.
The story goes like this…
You seriously want to learn to play guitar so you head down to the local music store and purchase a brand new beginner model guitar.
You can picture yourself on stage, the crowd screaming, cheering for you.
You get the guitar home, pull out one of the new picks you just purchased, start to play your first song, and quickly run into a problem…
You have no idea how to play the silly thing.
It sure looked easy on the music videos you saw on TV…
Maybe you need to buy a book?
You head down to the local music store, purchase a beginner guitar book, and then quickly run into a problem. You can read and understand the examples well enough, but you have no idea if you are doing it right or not.
What is it supposed to sound like? How fast am I supposed to play it?
This is the first CD I made in my home recording studio:
I called my band “Now In Blue”
Maybe you need to buy a video?
You head back down to the local music store and peruse the instructional guitar videos. After purchasing one entitled “Absolute Beginner Guitar” you head home, pop it into your DVD player, and get ready to finally learn to play guitar.
The video starts. “Welcome to Absolute Beginner Guitar. We are going to start out with a G chord. The G chord is made up of a Major 3rd with a Minor 3rd on top and it looks like this. Ok, give it a try. One, two, three, four…”
You stare blankly at the screen for a minute in disbelief. This is supposed to be for an absolute beginner. What did they just say? This is boring and I am not learning a thing…
Maybe you need to sign up for private lessons?
You scrape together all of the cash you have been saving and head up to the local music store for some private lessons.
At least now the instructor plays through the examples and you can ask some questions, but there are a couple of new problems. When you get home, you can’t remember how to play the lesson.
You are supposed to spend the week practicing the lesson and you can’t because you don’t understand what it is supposed to sound like. Now you will have to wait until next week to go over the lesson with the instructor again.
You practice last weeks lesson just to have something to do. It was fun playing along with the instructor, but you find playing by yourself boring. You can’t believe you are paying your hard earned money for this.
I quit!!!
So after months of trying to learn to play the guitar here is where you are at:
You have just spent all of your money. You bought a guitar book, a guitar video, and a few weeks of private guitar lessons. You didn’t have much fun and you didn’t really learn to play the guitar much at all!
If only there was guitar method that was fun, instructional, and cheap that you could take anytime on your schedule…
You need to sign up for Virtual Star Guitar now!
I remember what it was like when I was first started to learn to play guitar. I was just like you.
I didn’t really know where to start. I spent a very long time studying books and videos, sifting out the good parts from the bad ones. I have now taken all of that precious information and created this online course.
I not only teach you the best stuff, I have made it much more exciting than just reading a book. You see, I set the Virtual Star Guitar course up to where you will not be playing and learning by yourself.
Through the magic of track recording, you will play along and be a member of my virtual band as you learn to play the guitar. That is a heck of a lot more fun than just reading some book or watching some guy play a song on a video.
Take a listen to one of my original songs. You could be playing guitar like this.

“Virtual Star Guitar takes the best of all guitar learning methods (books, video, private instruction) and turns them into a powerful learning experience that is also a lot of fun“
When it comes to learning guitar, using multiple teaching methods greatly improves how much the student learns. Guitar courses that just rely on video just don’t have the punch that utulizing multiple methods do.
You need text because things have to be explained. You need to be able to go back and read something you do not understand.
You also need some visuals, including pictures, diagrams, and charts, because you need to see what things look like.
You need to be able to hear what the examples and exercises are supposed to sound like. That is the whole point of learning to play guitar - to make sounds. How can you learn if you don’t know what to play?
Finally, it needs to be fun. If it is completely boring, you just aren’t going to stick with it.
It just so happens that one of the funnest things to do with guitar is to play with others. It can be just a drummer or another guitar or a bass player or whatever.
“Discover the fun and excitement of playing with a virtual band”
Virtual Star Guitar focuses on playing with other musicians right from Lesson 1. You will start off playing along with just a drummer, and later you will be playing along with a drummer and another guitar player or two.
You will be the third member in our Virtual Band. We are going to build the band slowly so don’t worry. You can do it. And just think, after studying the Virtual Star Guitar method, you will be so familiar with playing with others so that you can start your own band if you like!
“Virtual Star Guitar is for players who want to learn rhythm or lead”
You will be learning both rhythm and lead (solo) guitar and you will get a chance to play both parts on various lessons while the other guitar player plays the other part. Most real life guitar players switch between rhythm and lead on different songs. It’s good to learn them both!
I had the number 1 song on mp3.com!

“You will get detailed explanations of each topic in each lesson”
The Virtual Star Guitar course contains instructional text with plenty of explanations just like beginner guitar books. As a student you have to be able to go back and read over things you do not understand. You can’t do that on a video.
A lot of guitar courses skimp on the text, but not Virtual Star Guitar.
“You will get instructional pictures that show exactly what to play”
Pictures help to further illustrate the concepts in each lesson. These may include how to make a chord or how to place your fingers to play that screaming solo.

“You will also get chords and scale diagrams”
Virtual Guitar Star utilizes diagrams to further illustrate various topics. Here are some chord and scale diagram examples.

“You will learn to read tablature, the universal guitar notation”
Virtual Guitar Star uses tablature examples to show how to play various parts. Tablature is the standard guitar notation and once learned it will allow you to play any song you can find written in tablature. You will start with very basic tablature and you will learn more and more complicated examples as you make your way through the lessons.
“You get lots and lots of audio examples so you know exactly what each lesson is supposed to sound like”
One of the most important aspects of Virtual Guitar Star are the audio examples. There are lots and lots of these audio examples throughout all of the lessons.
The various instruments heard in the audio examples comprise a virtual band that you will play along with. You will be one of the guitar players in the band and you will actually trade off between rhythm and solo lead in many of the lessons.
“Even beginners will be soloing by Lesson 2!“
Virtual Star Guitar audio examples on various lessons include:
#1 – Drum beat to play along with
#2 – Instructor playing through the exercise so you know what it is supposed to sound like
#3 – Instructor playing rhythm so you can practice playing the solo
#4 – Instructor playing solo so that you can practice rhythm guitar
“New lessons uploaded all the time”
Since Virtual Star Guitar is accessed through a web browser, you will have access to more and more lessons as new ones become available. New lessons show up automatically and are at no additional charge. Once you log in, all lessons will be available on the right hand side of the MyGuitarUniversity portal.

“Virtual Star Guitar is cost effective”
Private guitar lessons can be expensive and I should know. I taught private guitar lessons for a couple of years back in the late 80’s.
The music store I worked in set the price at $15 a half hour once a week. That means you would only get 2 hours of instruction per month and it would cost you $60. A quick Google search shows that today’s prices are even more expensive.
With my system you get access to all current content, all current lessons, all future content, and all future lessons for only $19.95 a month. And remember, new lessons are being added continually!
